Original Summary

I'm a solo dev with a Chrome extension that hides YouTube's distractions: Shorts, recommendations, comments, autoplay and so on, with about 28 switches you can turn on or off. Hiding is free. There's a paid tier for people who need help staying off YouTube, not just hiding things. It's live on the Chrome Web Store. I've been posting about it on social media for a few weeks. 6-7 posts, ~600 views total. The Web Store shows me around 70 installs, but not sure whether they came from search or from my posts, so I can't tell if the posts are doing anything. I'm thinking of putting some money into Instagram/Facebook ads for a few days to see what happens. Questions for people who've done this: Is ~600 views from 6-7 posts a sign the content or positioning is off, or is that normal this early? How do you track what's working when the install happens in a store you don't control? Tagged links, a landing page in between, something else? At what point did you start paying for ads: after a certain number of organic users, or once you had a message that converted? Happy to hear from anyone who burned money on this too. submitted by /u/No_Wishbone_2754 [link] [comments]
