Original Summary
I’ve never been officially diagnosed, but I’m 99% sure I have ADHD. When I’m into something, I’m like REAAALLY into it, and then I’m onto the next thing. I’ve started a few businesses (back in 2015 it was a tie + sock subscription). I’ve picked up way too many hobbies during my life: chess, football, fantasy football, tennis, volleyball, rock climbing, card collecting... and the list keeps building. The one thing I always wanted to do was build an app. I took a few udemy courses and watched many Youtube videos to try and learn about mobile dev and visual app builders (FlutterFlow), but was never able to fully grasp the complexity of programming, thus I never finished anything big. Then vibe coding came along, and suddenly I could just... build stuff. Turns out the fast feedback loop works great for a brain like mine. I see changes right away, I get the little hit of progress and dopamine, and I keep going and going without feeling bogged down or stuck. About 6 months ago, I was training for a marathon, and on one run this random idea popped into my head: what if you combined a to-do list with an old Gigapet / Tamagotchi? Something that would help me with my issue actually get things done. I got home and started building that same day. No plan, no feature list, nothing. Just started with Lovable and kept building. Then I brought in Claude Code. Then about a half a year later, it’s live on the App Store. It’s called WorkPet . You pick a pet (three cats and three dogs thus far), and the only way to keep it happy is to finish your real tasks. Then, of course, I couldn’t stop adding stuff: Daily puzzle games (seven of them, with daily leaderboards) Accessories and a closet to dress your pet up Friends, a feed of completed tasks, reactions and comments Letters you can send to friends Chatting with your pet, and it remembers things I use it every day, and my girlfriend uses it too. And if I can think of something cool/fun to add, I’ll add it. How it got built: It’s built with Lovable / Claude Code, then wrapped it with Capacitor to get it on iOS. Firebase backend. The App Store part was a rejection adventure. Apple’s first response wasn’t an official rejection, but more a “we need more info”: a screen recording on a real device showing sign-up, account deletion, and how reporting and blocking work. The second time it got rejected for a camera crash (I forgot a permission description) and because my Sign in with Apple logo was drawn by Claude instead of Apple’s official one. The third try got approved, and it went live a couple of weeks ago. I used to say ideas are cheap and execution is the hard part. Still true, since I have way more ideas than time, but execution has gotten a lot easier. I don’t know if I’ll keep building this one forever, but for a first real project I actually finished, I’m pretty happy. It’s free: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/workpet/id6808368426 / workpet.ai Would love and appreciate any feedback on it. Not sure if it is even a g
