Original Summary
My wife and I love to cook, but keeping track of recipes had turned into a chore. They were all over the place: bookmarks, screenshots, Instagram reels, handwritten cards. And we could never remember what we'd actually made. Every recipe site was ads, pop-ups, and a life story before you got to the ingredients. Reels were even worse since you're constantly flipping between the caption and the video, trying not to swipe to the next one, and then the app refreshes and it's gone. Not a fun way to cook. So we built Gingham (joingingham.com) as a side project. Right now you can: Paste a link from any recipe site and get just the recipe, with credit and a link back to the source (you can try this on the front page without signing up) Save a reel's caption, a photo of a cookbook page or a handwritten card, or a bunch of links at once Cook one step at a time in big type, with timers, and your screen stays awake Plan the week and get a grocery list sorted by aisle Keep track of what's in your fridge, freezer, and pantry and plan around it Share recipes privately with family or friends, or share one plan and grocery list with the people you live with Not there yet: no app (you can add it to your home screen and it opens like one) no feed of what everyone at your table has been cooking. Saving, cooking, planning, and sharing with one group are free. The paid plan, Gingham Household, is for people who live together and want a shared plan and grocery list. We'd really love for you to give it a try and tell us what you think: How does it feel to use, especially on your phone? Anything confusing or hard to find? What's missing that would make you keep all your recipes here? If you already use a recipe app, what would it take to switch? * Thanks for checking it out! submitted by /u/delli [link] [comments]
