Original Summary

I've been working on an idea called Look Back. The idea is simple. I want one place where you can look at your month or year and understand what actually happened, what you spent time on, what changed and what mattered to you. I don't want it to become another app that asks you to fill out long journal entries every day and then forget about it. Here are a few things I'm exploring. Making journaling easier You could answer a few short questions, tick some boxes or write freely. You could choose your own questions or use defaults. I'm considering a weekly check-in on Sundays, with no guilt or catch-up work if you miss a week. Finding patterns in your own writing If you write a few sentences about your week, the app could identify recurring themes, words, interests and concerns over time. The goal would be to help you notice things about yourself that are hard to see when you're living through them. Connecting the things you already do I'm interested in letting people selectively import their own data from services they use, with their permission. For example, workout history, GitHub activity or exported YouTube history could add context to a personal timeline. The people have the full control on what they choose to share One dashboard for your life I'd like the dashboard to show important memories, milestones, projects, life areas and changes in priorities. You could zoom out to see the bigger picture of a month or year, then open individual moments when you want more detail. I have an interactive prototype that shows the general direction, but it currently uses fictional data. You can't yet create and save your own entries or connect external accounts. https://look-back-six.vercel.app/ I'm trying to figure out whether this solves a real problem before I build the full thing. If you already journal, track your habits or keep personal notes, I'd like to understand how you do it today. What do you use? What makes you stick with it? And what do you wish you could see when looking back at the last six months or year? Honest criticism is welcome. submitted by /u/Reasonable_Guest_553 [link] [comments]
