Original Summary
Every time I looked for a clean year-progress or countdown app on Android, it either had full-screen ads or wanted a recurring monthly subscription just to unlock home screen widgets. For a utility app that sits on your home screen and sends local reminders, paying a monthly subscription never made sense to me. So I built Dayle to run 100% offline on device from day one. All your countdowns, goals, and preferences live locally on your phone (with local JSON file export for backups), and all of the midnight date rollovers, reminders, and home screen widget rendering run natively on the device without any cloud servers. Because a user costs me $0/month in server bills after install, the core app is completely free with no ads, and the optional pro tier is a single one-time lifetime unlock. What I packed into it (shown in the 30-second clip above): - Visual dot matrices for your Year (365/366 dots), Month, Quarter, and Personal Birthday Year (0:00 to 0:07). - Event countdowns with flexible recurrence (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or custom intervals like every N days/weeks) and a visual dot journey (0:08 to 0:12). - Measurable time-bound goals where you can track progress toward a target number like reading 10 books alongside the time elapsed (0:13 to 0:18). - 10 high-contrast color themes tested for WCAG AA legibility in both light and dark mode (0:19 to 0:22). - 4 native Android Jetpack Glance home screen widgets: Compact (2x1), Square dot grid (3x3), Wide dot grid (3x2), and Upcoming list (4x2) that you can pin right from inside the app (0:23 to 0:26).
