Original Summary
Hey all! I'd built some Glance pages to follow science and tech news, and colleagues turned out to be interested too. One thing led to another, and I kinda overengineered it into okaeri ("welcome back"). The goal was a calm page to land on. It follows a bunch of RSS feeds, that are configured for you during startup. Currently they are mostly about science & technology, but it's super easy to add other feeds. Its super configurable, feel free to download it, or clone it and make it your own. Tabs can show stories newest first or "recommended". A small (embedding + ranking for the nerds) model running on your machine learns from what you open, like and hide, and puts the most relevant stories on top. Nothing leaves your device. It runs locally on macOS, Linux and Windows (Windows still needs more testing!). Fully open source (AGPL), install instructions in the README: https://github.com/DBvdHeijden/okaeri I'd love feedback on the design especially, and contributions are very welcome! submitted by /u/dvanderheijden1 [link] [comments]
