Original Summary
Hi all, solo dev here. I relaunched a side project recently: https://dogprompt.com It started as a free prompt library (dog portrait prompts by breed and style). Then I added paid generation: upload a photo of your dog, pick a style (studio portrait, royal, watercolor, pixel art…), and get a 1K image. Where it stands: Traffic: a few dozen visits a day, mostly Google searches around “dog prompt” Pricing: one-time credit packs, no subscription. $4.99 for 20, $9.99 for 50, $19.99 for 120 (roughly $0.17–0.25 per image) Sales: zero so far My honest doubts: My own FAQ tells visitors they can paste the prompts into ChatGPT or Gemini for free. Am I basically teaching people not to pay? You have to sign in with Google before generating anything. There’s no free try. Is that what’s killing conversion? Is the price too high, too low, or just irrelevant at this level of traffic? The bigger question: with ChatGPT and Gemini this good at restyling photos, is there still room for a niche pet portrait site? Or is the only real angle physical products like prints, canvas, and stickers? Not looking for upvotes. I’m trying to decide whether to keep pushing this or pivot. Happy to share more numbers if it helps. Brutal feedback welcome. submitted by /u/Typical-Youth-2176 [link] [comments]
