Original Summary
I cook a lot, and I've paid for more recipe apps than I'd like to admit. They all had the same problems for me: • They feel dated. Clunky screens, tiny buttons, ads everywhere. • Cook mode is an afterthought. The screen goes dark mid-recipe, and you're tapping it with buttery knuckles or raw chicken juice to find your place. • I'm always switching apps. The recipe's in one app, the conversion's in Google, the timer's on my phone, the random questions I have go to Siri, the grocery list's in Notes and hopefully I didn’t forget anything on my list. It all feels so chaotic for something that should be seamless. So I'm building Plated Pages: one home for everything you cook. • Save a recipe from a link, a social post, a screenshot, or a photo of a handwritten card (and more…) • A cook mode that's actually good: one step at a time, the screen stays on, and it's hands-free ("next", "set a timer for 10 minutes") • Ask a kitchen helper anything mid-recipe ("can I use honey instead?", "how many grams is a cup of flour?") without leaving the recipe/app • One-tap swaps (dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan, less sugar, etc.) that automatically transfer into the recipe ingredients and steps • Plan the week, and it builds one grocery list sorted by aisle Plus cooking together with friends, a shared grocery list, a kid-friendly mode, and "what can I make with what's in my fridge." It's in TestFlight now, with the App Store launch planned for this holiday season. I'd love honest feedback, especially: What's the one thing that would make you stop screenshotting recipes and actually use an app? Or, if you’re currently using an app, what are features you wish it had that’d make your cooking/meal planning experience more convenient? platedpages.com submitted by /u/mak3443 [link] [comments]
