I got fed up with rewriting my resume by hand over and over just to try to include the right keywords and get past the ATS scanners. I tried to use Claude and ChatGPT but it came out totally inhuman, the formatting was a mess, and it was a page and a half long. So I built bettershell.ai. You enter your work history once, paste a job url, and you have a perfectly formatted custom resume tailored to that role in 10 seconds. Every rewritten bullet has a reason why and you can quickly accept/reject or make your own manual edits. A bit of behind the scenes: The key to making this work well was splitting the job three ways. One AI only makes decisions, a different one only writes, and plain code handles anything that can be measured. Decisions: a judge answers tons of narrow yes/no questions. Is this bullet relevant to this job? Is it basically a duplicate of another one? Is this rewrite actually better than what you wrote? It can't write a sentence, so it can't invent your experience. Writing: the writer rewrites one bullet at a time and only fixes the specific problem the judge flagged. A strong bullet never gets touched. Code: fitting everything onto exactly one page, and checking that every number, tool and name in a rewrite already exists in your profile. The judge part was the most work to get right. When it compares a rewrite to your original, it sees both side by side, twice, with the order swapped, because models tend to favor whichever option they read first. The rewrite only ships if it is judged clearly better than the original. First 2 resumes are free.
