Original Summary
it went live on the App Store this week so I figured I'd share how it works. the idea is simple. you get instagram's mobile site in a web view, reels and explore get refused by URL and hidden with a bit of CSS and JS (basically what a content blocker does), and on top of that there's a daily time limit. the part I spent the most time on is the limit rule. lowering it is instant. raising it is allowed once a week and starts the next day. honestly that rule is the whole app, because every limit I tried before failed the moment it got annoying. a few things I learned building it: the limit lives in the keychain, so deleting the app doesn't reset it. but an app you can never leave would be a trap, so there's a "forget everything" button that takes the same wait as a raise. time only counts while the page is actually on screen. the day flips at 4am instead of midnight, so a late evening still counts as that evening. no server, no account, no analytics. the whole thing is SwiftUI with zero dependencies. the source is public: https://github.com/Marco-P-Keller/Quiet downsides I'm upfront about: no posting, no push notifications, slower than the native app. App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6802907680 happy to answer anything about the web view stuff or app review, that part was an adventure. and honest feedback is very welcome, especially if something breaks for you. submitted by /u/Dry_Magician_4727 [link] [comments]
