Original Summary
I ran a small experiment on my own SaaS this month and the result surprised me. I searched my brand name in ChatGPT. It showed up, and I felt fine. Then I typed the questions a buyer would actually type, things like "best tool for [what the product does]" and "[competitor] alternative". Out of 15 questions, my brand appeared in 2. Two competitors showed up on almost all of them. The brand-name search had hidden the problem completely. A few things I have noticed since: - The competitors named most often had one plain sentence on their homepage saying what they do and for whom. - Several of them had a page that answered one specific buyer question directly, in the first few lines. - Brand-name searches tell you almost nothing about visibility. I am still early and this is one product, so I would not call it a rule. Has anyone else tested category questions instead of their brand name? What did you see, and did any change move the result? submitted by /u/ryhanships [link] [comments]
