Original Summary
Every DoorDash receipt shows the food, the fees, the tip and a total. What it never tells you is who actually ends up with the money. I build ordering apps for small restaurants, so I spend way too much time staring at this stuff. The first time I did the math on a normal order I assumed I messed something up. So I built a calculator that prints the receipt DoorDash doesn’t. Type in what you paid and it splits it three ways. On a $45 order it comes out to about: Restaurant: $24 Driver: $8 DoorDash: $13 The place that actually made your food gets a little over half. DoorDash gets more than the person who drove it to your door. It even looks like a real receipt, torn edge at the bottom and “thank you for looking” printed at the end. If I’m going to ruin your next order I figured it should at least look nice. Quick mode guesses the split from a typical order. Exact mode lets you type in your real receipt and pick the restaurant’s commission plan (15, 25 or 30%). No signup, nothing gets saved, just plain HTML and JS. The math and the sources are at the bottom of the page. nomback.com/calculator?utm_source=sideproject Hardest part was the driver side, since base pay runs anywhere from $2 to $10+ an offer. If you’ve dashed or worked at a restaurant, tell me where it’s off. Id rather fix it than guess. submitted by /u/PolarisXvi [link] [comments]
