Original Summary
I've abandoned probably six habit trackers. Streak breaks, red X's, "you're falling behind" notifications. Every one of them eventually made me feel worse than not tracking at all. So I built the opposite. The core idea: instead of a fixed reminder at 7am, it looks at your calendar and finds a 2-minute window that actually fits your day. One nudge, once. Not a nag. A few things that are different: - No red states anywhere in the app. Missed days are just empty, not failed. - If you break a streak, there's a "Recovery" option. Complete the habit 3 days in a row and your old streak comes back. One bad day doesn't erase two months. - No social features, no leaderboards, no friends. It's just you. - No account needed to start. Works offline. It's early. Rough edges exist. That's why I'm posting. What I actually want to know: Does the "find a 2-minute window in your calendar" idea make sense, or does it sound like a privacy problem? If you broke a 60-day streak, would the Recovery mechanic make you come back, or would you already have given up? What would make you open a habit app on day 3, when the novelty is gone? Link: https://nelves.app Not looking for praise. Tell me what's broken, what's confusing, and what you'd delete/change. Do note, account creation is still very much under development. I have yet to fully integrate google authentication so for now, use the app locally. Also, when the google calendar is finally integrated into the platform, no personal data will be collected, and all data from the app will be stored locally should the user decide to not connect account. All data will be available to export via .json files so that if they decide to delete the app and return, or transfer their data over to a new phone, they have the option to do so without having to create an account. submitted by /u/vigilant_skank [link] [comments]
