I'm a solo developer and this is my side project: Countdown Widget: Any Event, for iPhone and iPad. Most countdown apps I looked at charge for the widget, which is the part people actually see every day. So in mine the widgets are free — every size, Home Screen and Lock Screen — and you can keep as many countdowns as you like. Pro is just looks and extras. What surprised me was how much work dates are. Christmas is easy. Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, Mother's Day moves, Lunar New Year is on another calendar, and an all-day event has to tick over at midnight wherever you are.
