run a small free toolkit for short-form video creators and kept pasting video links into Claude by hand, so I put the tools behind a remote MCP server. It runs on my server, you just add the URL. Add it: Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http shortformkit https://shortformkit.com/mcp Claude.ai / Desktop: Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, URL https://shortformkit.com/mcp Cursor / VS Code: {"url": "https://shortformkit.com/mcp"} What it can do: get_video_info: title, author, duration, caption, hashtags of a public Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, X, Facebook, Pinterest or Threads post download_media: MP4, MP3, cover image or a single frame at a timestamp, or just a section (link valid 15 minutes) transcribe_video: Whisper transcript with timestamps, 90+ languages, optional translation to English youtube_channel_id: channel ID, handle and RSS feed from any u / handle or video link social_video_specs: 2026 upload specs for 9 platforms (sizes, lengths, caption limits), with sources creator_monetization: program requirements, RPM by niche and country, sponsorship rates loudness_and_subtitles: LUFS and true peak targets (YouTube, Spotify, Netflix, EBU R128), subtitle rules youtube_thumbnail_trends: this week’s measured thumbnail trends in 10 niches estimate_youtube_earnings: ad revenue range from monthly views and niche Things I like asking it: “transcribe this Reel and give me the hook in one sentence”, “what size does this clip need for TikTok and YouTube Shorts”, “pull the RSS feed of this channel”. Limits, to be upfront: public posts only, no login walls. Vimeo and Reddit downloads currently fail from my server IP. Long videos take a minute to transcribe. It is free and I pay for the server myself, so please don’t hammer it with 500 videos.
