Original Summary
Every podcast I tried was close but not quite: too broad, too long, or a week behind the news I cared about. So I started building the show I actually wanted, and a few months later Tailor is ready for other people. You write one sentence, like "ten minutes of Formula 1 every morning, two friends who disagree about everything, louder on race weekends." Tailor drafts the show from that: a name, topics, two hosts with their own voices, a cover and a schedule. From then on, a new episode lands in your podcast app each morning through a private feed, so Apple Podcasts, Overcast and Pocket Casts all work. Under the hood, each episode goes through a few stages: - Search the day's news on your topics and read the actual articles, not just headlines. - Pick the stories and write a briefing with the real numbers in it. - Write the conversation. The hosts take sides, and they remember earlier episodes, so a bet from Tuesday comes back on Friday. - Voice it with Gemini TTS and publish it to your feed. A 10-minute episode costs me about $0.40 to make, mostly the script and the voices. That number decides most of what happens next, pricing included. Besides news, Tailor can teach. "Teach me the history of Rome" plans a course and delivers one lesson a day, checked against sources on the web. To be clear, the hosts are AI voices and the scripts are AI-written. That's the point, since nobody else will make a show for an audience of one, but it won't be for everyone. You can hear two real episodes on the home page before signing up. I'm looking for 50 beta testers, and it's free while in beta: https://tailor.fm What I'd love from you: make a show, listen for a week, and tell me what's off, whether it's a dull story pick, forced banter or a wrong fact. Ask anything about the build or the costs, too. submitted by /u/CacheInvalidation [link] [comments]
