Update: my 3D-print-at-home mystery has a Kickstarter prelaunch page — making the preparation clear
- SignalDesk2小时前
Original Summary
Twelve days ago I shared The Printed Secret here: a browser-led mystery with 3D-printed books and puzzle tools. I'm Jon, the creator behind Merlin 3D. A concrete update: The Alchemist's Study now has a Kickstarter prelaunch page for people who want to be notified when funding opens. The idea is to make the objects part of the investigation rather than scenery. The Codex is a reusable toolkit, separate from the Alchemist's own case book and objects. Printing is preparation for the mystery, and a desktop slicer is also needed during the experience. The current challenge is communicating that preparation clearly: this is not a conventional boxed game arriving in the post. Planned rewards are digital, with no shipped kit. You will need printing access or independent printing help, a computer with a desktop slicer, and an internet browser. Physical fit, handling and independent playtesting remain important; automated checks alone aren't production proof. Prelaunch page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/merlin3d/the-printed-secret-the-alchemists-study?ref=7gurvk — “Notify me on launch”, not backing yet. Funding is not open, the game remains in testing/not on sale, and I'm not announcing a launch date. Project overview: https://www.theprintedsecret.com/shop/crowdfunding Development and campaign media include AI assistance, alongside real printed prototype work. This is my own campaign. For anyone who has launched something that customers need to make or prepare themselves: what information would you put first to prevent people misunderstanding what they'll receive? submitted by /u/JonnyBass23 [link] [comments]
