Original Summary

We're a tiny development studio in Australia. A couple of months ago we shipped Reset, a fasting timer, as a $3.49 paid app with no ads, no subscription and no internet permission. Last month Play Console showed 13.3K impressions, 89 store visits and 1 purchase. So people were seeing it. They just weren't tapping, and almost nobody who tapped bought it. Looking back it's pretty obvious why: - paid apps show a price instead of stars in search results, and we had zero ratings - our first screenshot was the timer sitting at 1%, and the rewards one said "0 days" - the title didn't even include "intermittent fasting", which is what people search for - every competitor making the same "no subscription" pitch is free to install What we changed this week: new title, description and captioned screenshots made from the real app shipped a home screen widget and a live countdown notification, the two things fasting subreddits keep asking for a review prompt after your 3rd completed fast a $0 sale until Sunday to get some installs and ratings going next week: free download, 7 day trial of everything, then a one time unlock. Never a subscription. People who already bought it keep everything. I'll post the numbers in a month whether they're good or bad. What would you have done differently? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.resetapp.fasting&referrer=utm_source%3Dreddit%26utm_campaign%3Dsideproject submitted by /u/Rabi_R [link] [comments]
