Original Summary

Hi r/SideProject ! I'm a solo developer from Korea, and this is Pori's Picture Book : five watercolor stories for young kids, read aloud. Pori, a little book fairy, is their guide. What it does Every story branches at least twice. The child picks what happens next ("How should Lulu help?"), so it's worth reading again. Everything is read aloud. The narrator and each character have their own voice, and a character sounds the same on every page and when you tap them. Tap any sentence or speech bubble to hear just that line. Tap a character and they say something that fits the page. Little bits of play inside the stories: drag the trash out of the sea into a bin, keep tapping a seed until it digs down and pops back up, and collect 10 acorns for a sleepy bear. Dance Time: the whole cast on one stage, dancing to music. English, Korean, Japanese and Spanish. You can switch at any time, and the voices switch too. Free, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no account. Nothing leaves the device, and it works offline. How it's built Flutter, with one codebase for iPhone, iPad and Android. Most of the work went into per-device layouts. The reader is a full-bleed picture with a floating text card, tuned separately for tablets, phones and phones held sideways. Speech bubbles pick their own spot. They try above, beside and below the speaker and take the place that covers the fewest characters. A test taps every character on every page on 9 screen sizes to catch any bubble that hides someone. Voices: about 870 clips (narration, character lines and cries in 4 languages), made locally with the open-weights Qwen3-TTS model on an M1 MacBook Pro. The hard part was keeping each voice consistent, so every take is measured for pitch and timbre and re-rolled when a character drifts. Sound effects are real CC0 recordings. Things that make no sound in real life (stars, the moon, a seed) all come from one children's glockenspiel, so they sound like one instrument family. The illustrations started as AI-generated images. I cleaned them up with scripts, split them into layers so each scene shifts gently when you tilt the device, and repainted the flatter characters so they match the watercolor style. The website has a scroll section I'm a little proud of: "One in 8.3 billion". It starts with one child reading in the dark, pulls back to a crowd, then to a globe with a live world-population counter (World Bank data). A small lullaby, built in Web Audio from the same glockenspiel samples, plays along (the end of the video above). App Store (iPhone/iPad, free): https://apps.apple.com/app/id6815873602 Website: https://pori.todoli.lat/en/ Android testers wanted: the Android version is in closed testing on Google Play. If you have an Android phone or tablet and would like to try it, send me a DM with the email address you use on Google Play and I'll add you to the test. Google asks testers to keep the app installed for 14 days before
