Original Summary
Hey everyone, I’ve been working on a side project called FreeDrop, and I’d love to get some honest feedback on the concept and the desktop layout I just finished. The idea came out of total frustration with trying to clear out my space. The truth is, trying to sell something is so much harder than just giving it away if you really want to get rid of something fast. But normal platforms don't make that easy. If you list a mid-tier item (like an old monitor, a spare keyboard, or kitchen gear) for cheap, you get flooded with bots and people who promise to show up and then ghost you. Plus, if you try to sell a $3 item online, platform fees eat up the whole price. So, I built FreeDrop. It’s a clean local directory with a hard rule: everything on the app is either completely free ($0) or capped at a maximum of $10 cash/instant digital swap. It forces that exact choice—making it a fast way to recycle gear neighbor-to-neighbor without the typical marketplace headache. I also coded a lightweight, non-custodial payment rail into the backend called OpenRail, which lets people instantly swipe pocket-change trades peer-to-peer at pickup for a fraction of a cent without any middleman taking a cut. I’m keeping it super simple with a basic recommendation feature that just bubbles up items you normally click on. I’m trying to see if this is something people would actually use to clear out their drawers, or if you think the current options out there are enough. What do you think of the concept and the screen design? submitted by /u/Traditional_Camp139 [link] [comments]
