Original Summary
One winter night I left my PC running because I was too lazy to walk over and put it to sleep. I wanted a way to do that without getting up, so I made a desktop app for it. It worked, but it wasn't plug and play. You had to set it up and build your own dashboard on top. So I built Cntrl Console. You run one command on a machine and its agent opens a single connection out to a web console. Nothing on the machine listens, so there's no port to forward and no VPN. Right now it watches my Mac mini, a Raspberry Pi 3 and an old laptop running Ubuntu. From my phone I can see what each one is doing: CPU, memory, disks, services, containers, logs. When something breaks I get an alert, and I can restart the service or reboot the box from the same screen. That only works once you've allowed it on the machine itself, so a new machine can only be watched. The agent is open source (Rust, MIT): https://github.com/azaek/cntrl There's a demo with fake machines, no sign-up: https://try.cntrl.pw Console: https://console.cntrl.pw It's early, so tell me what's missing, or what would stop you from installing it. submitted by /u/aloxel [link] [comments]
