Original Summary

We’re developers, and this started as a personal frustration with keeping our households organized. Whenever we needed an appliance warranty, an old repair invoice or an insurance policy, we knew we had it somewhere. Finding it was another story. Even when we found it, nothing connected the warranty to the repair to the renewal coming up next year. So we started building Lucidi. You forward an email or upload a document, and Lucidi works out what it is and connects it to the right thing in your household. An HVAC warranty and a repair invoice from a year later end up in the same equipment history. So when you’re wondering “is this covered?”, you check one place instead of three inboxes and a drawer. The thing we cared about most was not building another app that pings you all day. Lucidi keeps track of the details quietly and tells you when something is worth knowing: a warranty about to run out, a utility bill that jumped, or service that looks overdue. Upcoming dates get a heads-up email. Everything else waits for a weekly summary, and on weeks with nothing worth saying, it doesn’t send one. A bill that moves by a few dollars doesn’t count. It’s a web app for now, with a mobile app in development. The hardest part wasn’t reading documents, it was knowing that two documents are about the same thing. A warranty says “Carrier 24ACC636” and the repair invoice says “AC unit, outdoor.” Getting those to land on the same piece of equipment without merging things that shouldn’t be merged took far longer than we expected. Under the hood it’s Spring Boot and Postgres, a Python service for the AI work, a React web app, and models from Anthropic and Voyage for document understanding and search. Since this is personal paperwork: we don’t use your documents to train AI models, and neither do the AI providers we use. We’ve set up a fully interactive demo with a fictional household, so you can see how it works without signing up or uploading anything of your own. You can mess around with it here: https://lucidi.ai/welcome We’re also opening a small, free private beta. We’ll invite the first group over the next few days and keep it small so we can work closely with testers and fix things quickly. You can read more about it and request a beta invite on our site: https://lucidilabs.com/?ref=sideproject We’re most interested in hearing what doesn’t work. We've been staring at this for so long that we could really use some fresh eyes to point out the flaws we've missed. If you poke around the demo, we’d love to know two things: what’s the first document you’d throw at it, and what would make you hesitate to trust it with your records? submitted by /u/WrongdoerDry2587 [link] [comments]
