Original Summary

Solo dev. I shipped Ownio last week: you photograph a shelf or a room, it names the items, estimates values, and builds a dated room-by-room PDF you can hand to your insurer after a fire or burglary. The problem I can't solve is not the product, it's the timing. Everyone agrees they should have a home inventory. Almost nobody makes one, because the day you need it is the day it's too late. So: - Nobody wakes up and searches for this. Search volume for the obvious keywords is tiny. - The moment of real motivation (just moved, just bought a policy, a neighbour got robbed) is short and I don't know how to be there for it. - It's a do-it-once app. Once the inventory exists, there's little reason to open it again, which makes a subscription a hard sell. Where it stands: iOS only, free to download with a weekly subscription, no ads, no account, data stays on the phone. Live for five days, zero ratings. What I'd like to hear from people who have marketed a "you'll thank yourself later" product: How do you reach people at the trigger moment instead of waiting for them to search? Is subscription simply wrong for a do-it-once tool? Would a one-time price work better? Is going through partners (insurance agents, movers, renters) realistic for a solo dev, or a time sink? Blunt answers welcome. Link in case you want to look before answering: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ownio-home-inventory/id6803531224 submitted by /u/Ok_Move4719 [link] [comments]
