Four-finger swipe shows every window, then shuffles them. Most of mine are the same dark window, so I could never tell which one I had just left. (its not that big issue when I use my external monitors, but I lately faced this many times so I decided to make a solution for it) I made a small menu-bar app that remembers the last three opened windows. Purple is the one I just left, amber is the one before that, teal is the one before that (you are free to pick colours as you like ofc), with a number and app logo on each. its free and open source so feel free to tweak it your way.
