Original Summary

I've wanted the same vanity plate for a while, and the only way to know if it frees up is to keep typing it into your state's DMV site and hoping. So I built something to do that for me, and it turned into a full project. What it does Checks official DMV plate lookups around the clock, across every major state Alerts you (Discord DM) the second a plate you want opens up "Snipes" - set a pattern once (like 3 letters, ends in GT, only in TX) and get pinged when any match opens Check one plate across every state at once Browse every open plate in a state, filter by length, export to CSV Live map + feed of plates opening and getting taken It's on the web at vanityplate.org (log in with Discord) and as a Discord bot. Free vs paid Free gets you a few live checks a week and previews of open plates, so you can see if it's useful before paying anything. Premium unlocks unlimited checks, instant alerts, and gets you alerts before the public channel. Results come from each state's own lookup where one exists. Where a state doesn't offer a direct check, results are marked "likely available," and you should confirm with the DMV before ordering. An open plate can still be refused by the DMV at order time - this tells you when it's worth trying, not that it's guaranteed. Happy to answer questions, and if there's a state you want covered, tell me which one. Feedback welcome - it's a solo project. vanityplate.org submitted by /u/DemsMods [link] [comments]
