Original Summary
I paid $99 for an SEO tool promoted by a popular SEO professional on X basically it was getting promoted as """get tons of backlinks and start showing up in LLMs recommendations""" I'm running a saas, so I figured I’d try it for a month and judge the results... I got 1 backlink and a bunch of AI slop I had to delete The backlink I got was from an article about entrepreneur podcasts, with no clear connection to my product and I couldn’t find the article indexed in google either - meaning that it doesn't count for the DR of my domain honestly, I felt scammed. There was a pretty big gap between the outcome being promoted and what I actually received meanwhile, they’re claiming $20k MRR I can’t verify that number, and my experience doesn’t tell me what every other customer gets. But it made me think about something as a builder their marketing convinced me to pay $99 before I had any evidence that the product would deliver the X posts, promises, revenue screenshots, etc. all made me convert and I keep seeing founders (myself included) spend weeks building features and fixing bugs.. this made me think that a better product doesn’t automatically win. People have to discover it, understand it, and trust it enough to pay so going forward, I’m spending 95% of my time on distribution and 5% on fixes, features, and product improvements submitted by /u/Strong_Teaching8548 [link] [comments]
