Original Summary

This is Helm, a Windows app I made for myself, and it has replaced the terminal for all of my Claude Code work. I open it every day. Why I started it: I'd have several Claude Code sessions going in separate terminals, miss that one had stopped to ask me something, and then hit my 5-hour limit without seeing it coming. Now they all sit in one window split into four, and I can reply to one while the other three keep going. When a session hands work to sub-agents, each of those gets its own bar showing how full its context is, so juggling a lot at once stopped being stressful. The feature I didn't expect to care about is pacing. The home screen labels my 5-hour usage as under pace, on pace or hot, and the usage panel adds my burn rate and a projection of when I'd reach the cap. That readout is what keeps me from blowing through my limits now. My favourite part ended up being the backgrounds. Pick one of 23 built-in photos or upload your own, then set blur and dim with two sliders. Underneath it's still the real Claude Code. You sign in to your Claude account from inside Helm using Claude Code's own login, there's no API key to set up, and my existing setup carried over untouched. When I'm away from the PC, my phone opens the same app over Tailscale, so I can start sessions, answer questions and approve tools from there. It also pings me when a session needs me or wraps up. I started it last Wednesday night and built it with Claude Code, and by Thursday I was building the rest of it from inside Helm. Where it falls short: Windows only, the phone part needs Tailscale on both ends, and some pieces still assume my own machine. Nobody else has it yet. Is this something you'd actually use? If enough of you say yes, I'll start working toward a public release. There are plenty of other great features I didn't fit into the video or this post, too. Ask me about any feature in the comments, and I'm happy to post screenshots of whatever you want a closer look at. submitted by /u/CustardHungry9554 [link] [comments]
