Original Summary

I've been building this for a while and v0.9.0 just shipped, so it feels like time to show it. The itch: my Git client was about a gigabyte on disk and took almost 40 seconds to open. Every time I wanted to fix a typo there was a loading screen and sometimes a login. It drove me a bit mad. What I made: gitmoire, a native desktop Git client for macOS, Windows and Linux. It started as a hard fork of an MIT project (angkorGit), with Git running on Rust and libgit2. 14 MB download, opens in under 5 seconds on my machine No account, no telemetry Commit graph, conflict resolver, worktrees, line-level staging, PRs for GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket Optional AI that uses your own Claude Code/Codex/Gemini CLI or local Ollama (off until you turn it on) A built-in terminal and a headless CLI called gitmo for SSH boxes 15 themes, because I couldn't help myself Business side: it's free. No paid tier right now. I build it under my little studio, Dark Magic Studios. Honest rough edges: the builds aren't notarized/signed by Apple or Microsoft yet, so you'll get a scary dialog once. The source isn't public. I'd really appreciate feedback on the landing page (does it explain the thing?) and on the app if you try it: https://gitmoire.dev submitted by /u/DMorais92 [link] [comments]
