I built a Mac podcast tool that keeps your current player (and learned the RSS handoff matters most)

Original Summary
I'm the developer of Feedcast. I built it because I wanted to clean up episodes without moving my subscriptions out of the podcast app I already use. The Mac imports an RSS feed, transcribes the episode, suggests chapters and sponsor sections, and publishes a personal RSS feed. You add that feed to Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, Overcast, or another compatible player. In a test episode, I reviewed two suggested sponsor cuts totaling 5:12; the original stays available and the cuts can be changed. A practical limitation: the Mac serves the audio, so it needs to be awake and reachable when another device downloads an episode. The small feed listing is online by default; you can turn that off. Feedcast requires macOS 26 or later and is free for up to three output feeds. I learned that the RSS details (stable episode IDs, chapters, and metadata) matter just as much as the processing. If you've built or used a personal feed, what part of the handoff tends to break? Project: https://feedcast.org submitted by /u/robert_kr [link] [comments]
