I run Hermes locally and kept wanting to check sessions / nudge tasks from my phone — without standing up yet another Telegram or Discord bot, and without leaving random ports open. Minimal path I settled on: - One always-on host (home box or VPS); the phone is only a client - Same Wi-Fi at home; away from home → short-lived tunnel (TryCloudflare) or Tailscale instead of exposing ports - Short-lived / single-use pairing, then a normal session; one device at a time so old phones don’t stay authorized I wrapped it into a small companion web shell (hermes-web-shell): browser UI onto the same local Hermes, with a few themes (Classic Gold, Mono Minimal, Cyber Slate, Ares Crimson, Daylight). Not a messenger gateway, not a Desktop/CLI replacement.
