Original Summary
Disclosure: I build Pixolm, an AI image generator/editor. This post was prepared with AI assistance from our published guide and dated test records. One product-design question I ran into: what should a camera dropdown in an AI image app actually promise? Our Camera panel has body, lens, focal length and aperture controls. They add photographic direction to the generation prompt; they do not turn the model into a calibrated optical simulator. Lighting, subject size and composition still need to be described. A September 13, 2026 run used one red-teapot theme and produced three noticeably different looks: 24mm, f/11: a wide tea-shop establishing shot. The prompt explicitly asked for the counter, floor, beams, window and shelves, with the teapot as a small accent. 85mm, f/1.2: a product hero close-up. The prompt asked for the complete teapot to dominate the frame, with distant shelves becoming unreadable bokeh. 100mm macro, f/8: an extreme close-up of the spout junction. The prompt excluded the full teapot, handle, counter and room, and named the material details to emphasize. These were first outputs from GPT Image 2.5, 2K, High quality, 1:1, with Camera enabled and no reference images. All three succeeded in that dated run. The scene prompts, body, lens, focal length and aperture changed together, so this is a set of creative recipes, not a controlled test of focal length or aperture . The teapot design also varies between images. The useful UI distinction for me is intent versus a guarantee: a named camera does not set output resolution, an anamorphic lens does not set the aspect ratio, and a numeric subject-size instruction does not enforce measured geometry. For a real product, a reference and a detail check are still necessary. Pixolm requires sign-in and Credits; the current estimate is shown before submission. The three outputs and complete prompts are in the original guide: https://pixolm.com/blog/ai-camera-settings-guide For other builders exposing model controls: how do you communicate a familiar photographic control without implying a deterministic result? submitted by /u/Present_Ad3523 [link] [comments]
