Original Summary

My girlfriend created Alkateia, a private communication app for families. We have two young kids, and the idea came from a fear a lot of parents probably have: how do you keep your kids connected and reachable without exposing them to the risks of social media? The idea is simple: No exposure — no public profiles, usernames, followers or searching for strangers. Private entry — family members join through temporary, revocable invitations. 🚨 SOS — one button sends an alarm + real-time location to the whole family. Live location — family members can share and follow each other's location in real time. Battery levels — you can see your family's battery percentage and even send a little “go charge your phone” reminder 😂 Real-life friends — kids can add friends they actually know, with approval from the family responsible when required by age. She built it because she wanted something that would help families stay connected without turning that connection into another social network. We're still improving it, so I'd genuinely love to know: Would you use something like this with your family? What would you add or change? https://alkateia-ofc.web.app/en submitted by /u/JutosiBaka [link] [comments]
