Original Summary
2 months ago my calorie tracking app was barely getting downloads. its one of the most crowded categories on the app store, and youre up against apps with huge ad budgets and years of reviews. ads were too expensive for me, and i didnt want to spend my days filming tiktoks when the app still needed work. so i started using AI UGC. the videos are simple. an AI person says one line to the camera for a few seconds, then it cuts to a screen recording of the app. i expected it to look fake. it doesnt anymore. the short clips look like someone filmed them on their phone, and the quality keeps getting better. the ones i made in the first week already look old next to what i can make now. the main thing was how much i could post. i could try 5 hooks for the same feature in one day and keep the ones people actually watched. most did nothing. a few did really well, and those few did most of the work. people mostly dont use the link in bio either, they search the app on the app store, so the day after a good video i could see the jump in app store connect. it helped the product too. the hooks that worked told me what people actually care about in a calorie tracker, so i used them in my app store screenshots and onboarding. and when i ship a feature now, i can have videos about it the same day. if you try it, keep the AI person short. the longer they talk, the more it feels off. always show the app doing something real, for a calorie app thats just someone logging their lunch. and the app still has to be good once people open it. the videos only get them to download. i think this is the best tool small app founders have right now. one person can post as much as a whole content team. if your app is good and the problem is that nobody knows about it, this is what id try first, before ads. submitted by /u/North_Expression5168 [link] [comments]
