Original Summary
I build PressWork, a desktop writing app (Rust + Tauri). I've posted here a few times — the pricing one, and the two-editions-for-mobile one. Last release added a real feature: import a whole Markdown folder from Notion or Obsidian and turn it into a book. Good reception, people who'd never heard of the app came in. This release adds nothing. And it's probably more valuable. What it does instead. It removes two moments: Realising after three days that you've been writing in an alternative version of a chapter, and the good text is somewhere else. Closing a window and wondering, for half a second, what was in it. So: the document name is always visible, with the version you're in. Reopening a document takes you back to the version you left it on. Unsaved changes are obvious, closing asks, and if you close anyway it offers to restore what you wrote. On macOS a
.pwkis finally a single document in Finder instead of a folder bundle. Why I think this was the right call. The import feature brings people in. This one decides whether they stay. Someone who loses an hour of work in week two doesn't file a bug — they just stop opening the app, and you never find out why. Retention failures are silent in a way acquisition failures aren't. The uncomfortable part is that there's no good way to announce a release like this. Every line of the submitted by /u/Jonastraus [link] [comments]- 情报分类:硬件与数码
