Original Summary

I've been building agents and kept running into the same thing: search APIs are either expensive, or the cheap rate only kicks in after a big prepaid top-up. Most also return a lot my agent never uses. So I built Plainserp. You send a query and get back Google's organic results as JSON: position, title, URL and snippet. That's all it returns. What it does: - $0.30 per 1,000 searches, same rate at any volume - First 1,000 searches free, no card needed - Up to 20 results per page, 6 pages deep (120 results per query) - Country, language and time-range filters - Failed requests aren't charged - An MCP server (plainserp.com/mcp) if you want to plug it into a client without code - A skill file for coding agents What it doesn't do, so nobody wastes their time: - No AI Overviews, People Also Ask, knowledge panels or ads. Organic results only. - It doesn't fetch the pages. You get links and snippets. - Top-ups are crypto only for now, minimum $6. It's a small side project and it's new, so I'd really like people to try the free tier and tell me what breaks or what's missing. https://plainserp.com submitted by /u/Weak_Associate4176 [link] [comments]
