Original Summary
Hey everyone, The very tools you have are broken at both ends, and all they do is make it worse: For developers: You give your personal data up to public profiles, are bombarded by recruiter spam, and waste hours completing fat, time-consuming take-home assignments for companies that never respond to your application. For hiring managers: You're overwhelmed by perfect resumes and taking-home work completed by candidates in 30 seconds using ChatGPT. How can you tell who is the real engineer? Rather than resign ourselves to that, we decided to spend the last few weeks of our time together creating an end-to-end alternative called Merged Network. We addressed both ends of the pipeline with two key ideas: Combined Shield (Solving the Privacy & Spam Dilemma) Protect Filtered Identity: Review and use functionalities completely anonymously. Your original identity and the contact information remain fully protected unless you choose to accept an outreach or interview. No public spam. No recruiter harassment. Zero-Risk Outreach to Companies: Companies drill existing authenticated technical footprints. When they outreach is credit-based-and if a developer declines or does not respond within 7 days-the credit is auto-refunded. The "Pivot Test" (Fixing the AI Take-Home Problem) Rather than a static, AI-exploitable take-home exam, this browser-based sandbox includes an unannounced change in requirements during the exercise: The First Project: The developer gets a small, time-honored coding challenge. The Pivot: What was once an inconspicuous requirement is now blatantly obvious. Adaptation & Rationale: They are expected to adapt their previous code base without breaking anything that is already built and include a short architectural rationale that comments the design decisions. The Evidence Report: The hiring manager receives a clear report showing the real code diff, code retention scores, and an explanation of the engineer's decision-filtering out AI fluff immediately. I'd love your take on this: If you're hiring for tech and building tech: how are you going to make developer privacy work and have hiring managers being able to look and verify the real skill? Would love to get some feedback on what you'd want to see! submitted by /u/Reasonable_Gas_8616 [link] [comments]
