Back in 2019, I was made redundant from my software development job and ended up becoming a full-time wedding photographer. Seven years later, somehow I’m writing software again. 😂 The reason was pretty simple: I got tired of exporting photos from Lightroom, moving everything onto my phone, and then trying to arrange Instagram carousels on a tiny screen. Canva works, Photoshop works, and there are plenty of mobile apps — but for my own photography workflow, they always felt like more work than they needed to be. So I started building Piccie . It’s a desktop-first carousel and collage maker designed mainly for photographers. At the moment it includes: Freeform layouts — drag, resize, crop and arrange photos however you like Auto Layout — automatically generate layouts from your photos Preset layouts — quick ready-made arrangements Linked Slides — join two slides together so one image can flow seamlessly across them Drag-and-drop photo workflow Export everything ready for Instagram The whole idea is basically: Edit your photos → open Piccie → make your carousel → export. No need to build the whole thing on your phone. Piccie is currently in free public beta , and I’m still actively working on it. I’m a full-time wedding photographer rather than a startup with a big development team, so I’m building and improving it gradually based on what photographers actually find useful. I’d love some feedback from the SideProject community — especially around: Is the idea useful? Is the interface understandable when you first open it? What feels confusing or unnecessary? What feature would make you actually use something like this?
