A few weeks ago I posted the Android version here: a family tree app where a person can have no name, the great-grandmother nobody can name gets a real card on the chart instead of being a form field you're stuck on, and where asking "how are we related" gets you an actual answer, in English or Hindi. The app now has a desktop companion for Windows and Linux. Same .ftree file, no sync, no cloud, no account; you build a tree on your phone, open the same file on your laptop, and it's the same tree. Auto-saves as you go, keeps its own backups, and answers relationship questions from the desktop too. What's new on desktop: - Add, edit, connect and delete people directly; undo works on everything - Three views: chart, a compact reading list, and a people index - Relation finder built in, same "how are we related" as the phone - Photos, framed and stored the same way - Windows gets an installer, Linux gets a .deb Nothing leaves the machine on either platform; still no account, no server, no analytics.
