I'm the developer of Lorecast, a road-trip audio companion for iPhone and Android. The idea is simple: an old roadside motel or a small desert town can have a great story, but you usually don't know what to search for while passing it. Lorecast uses your location to play English-language stories about nearby places as you drive. The part I wanted to get right was listening without constantly checking a screen. Supported routes can be downloaded before a trip for offline listening, and stories include sources and distinguish historical accounts from folklore. It works alongside your usual navigation app. Coverage now includes Route 66, Pacific Coast Highway, Joshua Tree and Palm Springs, Las Vegas-area drives, Death Valley, northern Arizona, Utah's Mighty Five, and the Florida Keys.
