Original Summary
How He Did It: Julian created a fitness app that has over 70,000 users and makes about $400,000 revenue every month. He wanted to start a company, which he did through an influencer marketing platform for mobile games. It soon turned into something like an agency, which he didn't intend. However, while running the business, Julian saw some of the incredible numbers apps could generate, so he scrapped the agency-type company and started an app himself. He originally began making a workout-tracker app, similar to Hevy and Strong. As Julian was building the app, he noticed he wasn't adding much value, so he analyzed his competition and decided to improve on them. His friend later found another app called FitBod, which Julian really liked, but noticed the workouts were not effective, and made another version of it. Building Gravl took Julian 2-3 months, and one of the most difficult parts wasn't the concept itself but the algorithm's technicalities, such as weight, gender, goals, etc. Julian posted his app on Reddit, which caught a lot of attention. From there, he received feedback and felt ready to start charging users for Gravl. Julian began running paid ads as soon as he launched subscriptions, and crazily enough, saw a subscription in the first 10 minutes of running ads. From there, he kept running ads, adding new features, split-testing, and expanding, and reached $400k/month in about 2 years. How you can replicate Julian and Gravl's process today: Everybody has a different process. Different budgets, niches, and tools are huge factors in if an app succeeds or not. There's no perfect process, but here are some tools I recommend, especially if you're low-budget. Competitor Analysis: https://claude.com/ https://whitespace.fyi/ These are some of my most used.
