What it is: https://stayzones.com/ . A map for figuring out where to stay in a city. Pick a city and see its areas in green, orange or red, with the reasons behind each rating. Why: It's a website I wished existed when planning trips. Most "where to stay" guides give you a list of neighbourhoods and a few paragraphs about each one. I wanted the whole city on one map, with the relevant facts right there instead of opening 10 different articles. How it works: Different zone types for different kinds of trips, such as nightlife, sightseeing, quiet areas and transport A quick quiz recommends areas based on your preferences and budget Public transport is shown directly on the map Each area's downsides are shown first, with sources linked Hotel searches are limited to the selected area No ads, cookies, signup or affiliate links for now. Stack: Next.js, MapLibre, self hosted Protomaps tiles, Prisma, a single VPS behind Cloudflare. Cities so far: Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Budapest, Lisbon, Milan, Naples, Oslo, Paris , Porto, Prague, Rome, Stockholm and Venice. It went live this week. I'd love feedback, especially from anyone who knows one of these cities well enough to tell me where I've got it wrong.
