Hey r/SideProject , As an independent artist myself (I make music as Oryon), I reached a breaking point with mainstream social media. Algorithms force creators to pump out daily trending videos just to reach a tiny fraction of their actual followers. If you post a photo, audio clip, or update, it gets buried unless you pay for reach. So I spent the last few months building Drop—a calmer social app specifically for musicians, fans, and close-knit creative communities. How Drop works: A Bounded Feed: When you catch up on posts from the people you follow, the feed actually stops with a message saying "You're all caught up." No infinite scroll, no hidden loading, and no endless doomscrolling. 100% Chronological & Zero Algorithm: What you see is strictly who you chose to follow, newest first. The algorithm lives over on a completely separate Explore tab where it belongs. Hidden Like Counts: Comment counts stay public to show real conversations happening, but like counts are hidden to remove the dopamine-chasing validation loop. Your Profile is Your Board: What you post and what you save live together in one clean space. We launched on the iOS App Store recently as "Drop: Share What Matters." We’re currently a small, high-trust community of around 28 members, and we use an invite system to keep growth intentional. I’m looking for fellow builders, musicians, and early adopters to test out the feed, break things, and tell me what sucks about it.
