Original Summary
I've already spent over $200k on my SaaS, generated ~$270k in revenue, had 800+ customers including large Enterprises. Sounds as a good beginning, but it is not. I've burned myself out to death. The worst part about building your "cute product", that is not covered enough is being in the middle, when you're not doing good, but neither bad. When you'd be ready to give up, but it's kinda working, when your customers don't stick, but you still believe in your vision, when you have to iterate, but you've already built everything you wanted, when you should start growing, but marketing budget is larger then you revenue. It feels like a trap. The joy is gone and amount of problems overwhelm you. Now I understand why VCs push you to spend asap - so you can avoid that slow burning. You either growing fast or dying fast. When I was about 18yo, I've heard an advice: "If you're scared jumping of the cliff - jump. You'll build the parachute mid flight". I've seen these problems on the horizon, but assumed that I'll figure it out on the go - I didn't. So here is the advice no-one asked for: if you don't see an ultra-clear path to at least $10M ARR in the next 12-18 month, you should never jump off that fucking cliff! submitted by /u/fluppy-puppy [link] [comments]
