Original Summary
I've been building a web app for running farms in aquaculture. My first client used paper logs and a mess of Excel files. Now their day-to-day work lives in one place: stock, feeding, water conditions, losses, plus dashboards and reports. They've been using it daily for about a month and pay $400/month for now/ Now they want more: connect a bunch of different sensors and change the software to work with them. That's real custom development on top of the product. The software is mine. I'm not selling the code, I want to offer it to other farms too. Most potential customers still run on Excel and paper. There are a few competitors, but none of them publish prices, it's all "contact us for a quote", so I have nothing to compare against. Questions: Is $400/month per farm too low, too high or about right for this kind of product? How do I charge for the sensor work? Hourly, a fixed price per integration, or a higher monthly plan? The client pays for these integrations, but I want them to stay part of my product so I can reuse them. How do you usually handle that? Numbers from your own experience are super welcome.
