Solo dev. Dual N-Back is a working-memory exercise with a small but very serious community, so I built the app I wanted to use: seven modes up to hepta n-back, a lab of 12 short cognitive tests (chimp test, Stroop, reaction time), per-stream stats, Game Center leaderboards. What I learned since June, for anyone in the same spot: Posting in the niche subreddit as the developer, openly, was the best thing I did. Ten upvotes, twenty-four comments, and three people wrote me feedback longer than my own post. Almost every change I shipped since came from that thread. Moving free content behind the paywall cost me more than it earned. I put part of the free lab behind the subscription at the end of August.
