Original Summary
as a founder, this feels like the best & worst time to start a company you can get a working product out faster than ever. then someone sees the useful part, ships a close copy & gives it away before you've learned which customers will stay i keep coming back to one test: if a rival copied the feature tomorrow, what would still make a customer choose you? for us it has to be the messy work around the feature: fitting into the team's existing workflow, getting the right context, and making the result checkable by the person who owns it. none of that is a permanent moat either what actually held up for other SaaS founders when a feature was copied? distribution? switching cost? the quality of the work after signup? what looked defensible but wasn't? submitted by /u/arthaudm [link] [comments]
