I enjoy photography (and night photography in particular), but planning it often meant comparing several forecasts over multiple apps and sources, darkness times and moon conditions, and somehow still not knowing whether going outside would be worthwhile. So I built Ephemora, an iPhone app that turns those conditions into practical guidance for stars, the Milky Way, the moon and meteors. It shows both what conditions are like right now and whether a better window is coming later. You can inspect what affects a score, move through the night, explore other locations and save favourite places. The difficult part has not been displaying weather data. It has been communicating uncertainty honestly. A score should help someone decide when and where to photograph without pretending that a forecast guarantees visibility. Ephemora is now in public TestFlight beta, and I’m looking for real-world feedback from people willing to compare it with the actual sky at night. I would especially value feedback on: Whether “right now” versus “best later” is immediately understandable Whether the scores broadly match observed conditions Whether explanations are useful when conditions are poor or data is missing Whether the map and time controls feel intuitive Any accessibility, layout, performance or stability problems Premium features can be tested through TestFlight without being charged.
