I've got a 2005 Maserati and a bunch of the parts on it are shared with Lancias and Alfas of the era, and of course there is an 'alternative parts' thread in the main UK forum. These parts are often much cheaper than buying the parts from Maserati. There's a gearbox pump which is > £1000 but can be had on ebay for £150 for the Alfa Romeo part. This thread was always a mess, and I tried once to tidy it up and put it all in a Google Sheet but that ended up being half used and half other users posting more links in threads etc. Years ago now I thought I could buy a proper app and make structured data for all of this, and it would apply to lots of other models, Ferraris, Bentleys etc. I'd built some of this before but pre-LLM explosion. I finally built it all this summer with DeepSeek. One of the best parts of it is the AI thumbnails that generate on demand using fal.ai - very nice and cost effective. Stack is .net backend, Node frontend, pgsql. I've seeded it with around 700 parts across the major marques I'm going after (i.e. ones that have low volume and borrow parts from others). I used DeepSeek to crawl forum threads to find alternatives which was somewhat expensive. Slow going but better than doing it manually.
