Original Summary
i spent eight days warming up a cold reddit account with 58 comments before mentioning what i work on. no links. no product name. just specific answers in saas, ai agent, founder, sales, marketing, and web development threads. then i published the first longer post and mentioned mio once. it got 0 points and 38% upvotes. one reply was more useful than the score. the commenter was running a similar experiment and said their best comments were not advice. they were mistakes they had made themselves. "advice puts you above the person asking. a mistake puts you next to them." that exposed the weakness in my post. it was transparent about the numbers, but it still read like a list of lessons from someone explaining the playbook. i had written about what worked instead of making the failure the center of the story. there is also a difference between earning the right to mention a product and earning attention for the mention. 58 useful comments may make the account look real. they do not make the next post interesting by default. so the next test is narrower: start with one decision i got wrong show the cost before the lesson keep the product context to one line give the reader the test i wish i had used one post is not enough to judge the strategy. but it is enough to change the writing. useful comments built credibility. the first post showed that credibility does not rescue a weak story. submitted by /u/axel-drs [link] [comments]
