AI image generators and editors are everywhere and have gotten very good recently, but generation isn't the right tool for everyone, and some of us still want to edit photos or design posters the old fashioned way, in Photoshop. Photoshop takes time to master though, and it doesn't handle batches of photos well. As a Photoshop hobbyist I wanted to see how I could get some of the benefits of AI in Photoshop while keeping my editing process intact, with the ability to still fine tune and adjust by hand. That's how Editmamei got started. Editmamei now works with most of Photoshop's everyday toolkit: adjustment layers, masks, selections including Select Subject and Select Sky, Content-Aware Fill and the healing tools, filters, Camera Raw, type and shapes. It also brings batch automation and scale to my editing. A set of 150 vacation photos is no longer a daunting month long task: I edit a few by hand, figure out the style I want, then turn Editmamei loose to edit the rest adaptively. It isn't just a repetitive action recorder. Editmamei templates are objective based, aiming for the same end state across the batch, so the style holds while each photo gets its own edit. Editmamei sits alongside Photoshop as a local MCP server and drives it through Photoshop's own scripting interface. It works with any MCP compatible AI client, exposing tools designed for an AI to understand, which turn into explicit Photoshop edits. It also exposes previews and measurements, so the edits aren't done blind. In the video, a sailboat stay was cutting through my photo, and Editmamei tried three times to remove it, checking a preview after each attempt and keeping the one that came out clean. Editmamei is free to download and use, and the free version is a complete editing toolset that's great for a few photos at a time. Editmamei Pro adds most of the batch automation, with templates, batch processing and Photoshop Actions for editing dozens of photos in one session.
